Things to do at Uçhisar Castle

Uçhisar Castle is the highest point in the region, a natural rock riddled with tunnels and carved rooms that villagers hollowed out for shelter and storage over centuries. The climb inside is short but not comfortable: narrow passages and uneven, worn steps lead up through several levels before opening onto a platform at roughly 1,300 m.

Entry costs around 3 to 5 EUR, and the payoff is the widest panorama in Cappadocia, taking in Göreme, Ürgüp and stretches of the surrounding valleys on a clear day, well beyond what Göreme Panorama or Ortahisar Castle offer from their own rock. That view is not guaranteed. Wind and haze, more common in winter, can flatten it to a grey blur, so this is a fair-weather stop rather than a certainty.

Fifteen to twenty minutes at the top is enough once you have made the climb.
